If asked to describe myself, I would say that I am a lighting designer working with a camera to produce photographic images, recording the wealth of life in our Shropshire garden. 

As a designer, my first thought is always to make the most of natural daylight.  My limited edition prints are likewise inspired by the same enthralment with how the fluctuation of natural light constantly influences what we see.  

The second important influence on each finished giclee print reflects my love of both water colours for their softness and acrylics for their vibrancy.

Finally I show it ‘as it is’.  Everything remains in situ, no studio shots, no flash, just the wonderful profusion and haphazardness of nature. 

So there you have it – the motivation behind my print collection.  Capturing the ephemeral natural beauty of a garden.

From Prints to Lamps, perhaps it seems an odd progression but not so.  From seeing my work back lit on the computer screen, an effect never wholly transmitted to the printed page, it was a very short step to the concept of individually made table lamps as a means of displaying original art.  Of course it helps that this is a product after my own heart as I am very aware that we should all be embracing low energy lighting.
